Statement:
The Hidden Goddess is a collaborative 2D animation created alongside Amber Martinez and Gabriel Perez. The story follows Seluna, the youngest of the gods, who descends to Earth after noticing a sudden disappearance of offerings and praise from her followers. Curious and concerned, she finds a village cloaked in silence, its people asleep and disconnected from the beauty of her moonlight.
As she explores the outskirts, Seluna is attacked by a ghoul and saved at the last moment by Soren, a mysterious warrior and monster-slayer. From him, she learns that monsters have terrorized the land under the cover of night for years, turning the people’s once-loving reverence into fear and blame. Realizing her absence has led to suffering, Seluna crafts a powerful spell woven through song, magic that can purify and destroy the monsters. By entering the dreams of the villagers, she teaches them this melody, allowing them to defend themselves and reclaim their nights.
The animation is rendered in a style inspired by folk art and vintage storybooks, with soft shapes, simplified forms, and rich colors that evoke the feel of a childhood fable. Beneath the fantasy narrative, the story explores how all relationships are shaped by care and reciprocity, even the one between a goddess and her followers.
